The Charterhouse auction of classic and vintage motorbikes has a great selection of bikes going under the hammer with estimates from £200 up to £55,000.
“There are bikes in all shapes and sizes and conditions.” Commented Matthew Whitney. “As usual, there is a good selection of British bikes with a smattering of German, Japanese and other manufactures.”
The star of the auction is a 1949 Vincent Black Shadow. Coming to auction in a beautifully restored state this iconic 1,000cc motorbike is estimated to sell for £50,000-55,000.
Also restored, at a cost of over £11,000, is a 1980 BMW R80-7. Not having been taken to the road after its full restoration, this German engineered bike is estimated at £4,000-6,000.
Another restored motorbike is a 1972 Norton Commando 750. With low ownership over the past 47 years, many of which is spent as a pile of bits in a garage, this recently restored British bike is estimated at £9,000-11,000.
However, for those classic motorbike enthusiasts looking for a project, Charterhouse have several to 
tempt them. Here, a 1955 BSA C10L, barn stored for over 40 years, is estimated at £800-1,200 and from the same owner there is a 1958 Velocette LE for £200-400.
Charterhouse are now accepting further entries into this specialist auction of classic & vintage motorcycles on Sunday 3rd February closely followed by classic & vintage cars on Sunday 10th February which are both being held at The Royal Bath & West Showgrounds Shepton Mallet.
